The history of world religions is long and their research in Estonia has lasted for centuries. The Estonian Society for the Study of Religions (ESSR) was founded not long ago – in spring 2006, but is about to write a new chapter in this study.

The main objectives of ESSR are to promote the academic study of religions and to bring together the researchers in the field. Our website gives an idea of our pursuits, supporting our main activities through conferences, meetings and preparation of publications.

ESSR is full member of the European Association for the Study of Religions (EASR) and the International Association for the History of Religions (IAHR).

The future of ESSR seems hopeful thanks to the people with power of initiative, willing to make moves.
